Yok Don national park [Edit]

 

Yok Don national park is situated in Buon Don district, Dak Lak province, 40 km west of Buon Ma Thuoc city. Established in 1992, Yok Don is one of the Vietnam's largest nature preserves covering a total area of 115 545 ha, mainly of which is dry deciduous forest with the beautiful Serepok river flowing through.

As unspoiled forest accounts for more than 90% of the whole area, Yok Don Park has become an ideal habitat for wide variety of tropical flora and fauna species. Among 56 endangered species in Indochina, Yok Don is home to 36 species and 17 of which are listed in the World Red Book. Besides, the plant system here is abundant and diverse with 464 species, of which orchid alone comprises of 23 kinds of colorful patterns.

Yok Don park is not only of great value in biodiversity but in outstanding culture of ethnic groups here. There remains traditional stilt houses engraved nicely, showing locals' creative architecture. In addition, taking elephant rides, enjoying the camp fire at night filled with exciting melodies produced from different kinds of musical instruments will leave unforgettable memories in the mind of many visitors.

As one of the most biodiversity forests in Vietnam, Yok Don national park deserves to be the great destination for tourists from everywhere
