Nga Nam floating market in Soc Trang [Edit]

One of the most bustling markets in Soc Trang is Nga Nam floating market located in Nga Nam town, Thanh Tri District, Soc Trang Province. As the intersection of five rivers, it is crowded from dawn to dusk with boats and junks from everywhere coming to exchange various commodities. Some goods are hung forward the junk bow to show the type of products on sale so that buyers can find it easier and more convenient to find out needed things. The market serves a wide variety of commodities such as farm produces, rice, fruits and so on. It is common that boats from other places come here to buy rice for resale. Besides, dishes typical for locals' culinary culture can also be found here, for example, rice vermicelli, noodle with seasoned and sauté beef, etc. On the occasion of Tet, Vietnamese Lunar New Year, the market is much more packed with buyers and commodities. Junks flooded with fresh colorful flowers and fruits of various kinds are normal scenes in Tet. Not only does Nga Nam floating market play an important role in trading but it is also a fantastic destination for tourists here and there.
