Temple of Lady Xu
[Edit]
The temple built in 1820 was first made of bamboo and leaves, then being reconstructed several times until 1972. Having 4 square roofs, roofed with blue pile-shaped tiles featuring the Chinese character "Quoc", it is a beautiful and solemn architectural work. The temple is closely attached with the famous festival held annually here from 23 to 27 of the fourth lunar month. Considered as the biggest folk festivity of Southern Vietnam, the festival has drawn lots of pilgrims flocking here to enjoy the exciting atmosphere, to touch her statue and to pray for happiness and good fortune. During the festive days, many traditional cultural activities are organized, including unicorn dance, dance with dishes and cups. Recognized a national festival in 2001 by the Ministry of Culture and Information, it has become one of the most typical festivals among 15 others in the country, which helps enrich Vietnamese people's cultural lives. It is advised for tourists not to miss a chance to join such interesting festival in the temple of Lady Xu. Hotel Ads
