1000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi
The millennium will last for 10 ten days (1st-10th October, 2010) with many activities and art programs. Typical examples will be the large exhibition of social and economic achievements of Vietnam, the exhibition of literary and artistic works over periods, festivals of traditional villages, special art performances, etc to mark the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long - Hanoi. On the occasion of the millennial celebration, numerous activities are to be organized throughout Vietnam's other cities and provinces such as the international circus festival, the international water puppetry festival, the professional dance and singing performance, etc. To tick off the 1000 days to the grand ceremony happening in 2010, the capital city will begin counting down the days by installing a giant digital clock at the Ba Kieu temple fronting the Hoan Kiem Lake. The clock will strike its first chime on 13 January while bells and drums at churches and schools in Hanoi will join in to mark this historic moment. The 1000th anniversary of the capital's establishment is considered as a great event of the country. Hence, there will be many large activities and festivities held not only in Hanoi but in several cities nationwide in honor of this special fact. The Ministries, departments as well as local authorities are making every effort to celebrate it successfully.
